Norway registers -43.5 degrees on its coldest night in 25 years

Kautokeino, situated north of the Arctic Circle, recorded Norway’s coldest temperature in 25 years - 43.5 degrees -  the Norwegian Meteorological Institute told the NTB news agency on Friday.

Sweden also reported record cold, recording -43.8 degrees at Naimakka, its northernmost weather station. This was chilliest January night there since 1999.

Meteorologists predict icy temperatures in both Norway and Sweden this coming weekend.
