The phenomenon of quiet-quitting is the primary concern of Belgian corporate human resource managers, according to a recent ManpowerGroup barometer survey.

This phenomenon, which refers to employees disengaging from work, concerns 67% of the 525 surveyed companies – both public and private.

A talent shortage remains a key worry, as 63% fear they may struggle to attract qualified staff. Employee well-being (62%) rounds up the top three concerns.

Approximately 60% of the companies surveyed will prioritise diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. The same proportion has highlighted ecological transitions as a key priority for 2024.

"Our survey underscores the strategic role HR will have to play in 2024, as businesses venture into this new year amid ongoing uncertainty and the need for continued transformation in various sectors," comments Sébastien Delfosse, Managing Director at ManpowerGroup BeLux.

"Today, more than ever, businesses must centre their approach around people. Workers and candidates are seeking meaning and a new relationship to work. Employers who can meet these expectations are not only likely to attract and retain talents, but also boost their performance."
