Approximately 800 people enthusiastically participated in the 8th Belgian Christmas-tree-throwing championship held in Auderghem, Brussels.

Participants totalled 33 teams in this year’s team competition. Moreover, 538 individuals (including over 200 children) entered in the pursuit to become the top Christmas tree hurler of the year.

To guarantee a fair contest, every tree was meticulously calibrated by the jury in advance.

Nonetheless, Saturday’s event did not see the 2019 record of 10.77 metres broken.

This year’s champion is Alexandre Rossini, with a throw of 8.72 metres.

Olga Pirlot stood out amongst women with a 7.33-metre hurl.

Amongst the younger competitors, Carl Lemaitre secured the title with a 6.80-metre toss.

Finally, in the group category, FC Blue came out on top, with a 6.05-metre throw.
