The long-awaited opening of Brussels' panoramic restaurant has finally been announced, meaning the stunning skyline can soon be marvelled at every day, no matter the weather.

At the end of 2022, the City of Brussels' administration moved from the outdated modernist tower on Place de Brouckère to the gleaming glass building of Brucity. The building was criticised for being too imposing: it takes up an entire city block, occupying the entire rectangular site formerly home to Parking 58, and rises even higher thanks to an exemption on height limits.

However, the opening of the largest rooftop in Europe in June 2023 on top of the building soon made up for things. People started forming hour-long queues before its doors daily to enjoy the 360° views across the region.

58 Rooftop, which is free to enter, is located on the ninth floor of the colossal building and offers panoramic views over the whole of Brussels, from the Basilica and the Atomium to Mont des Arts, the Grand Place and the Palais de Justice.

A restaurant was expected to open in September on the eighth floor (the level below) to ensure the views could still be enjoyed even when temperatures dropped. But the opening was delayed, and the space remained closed during the winter months.

However, it has now been confirmed that the 'Rooftop Panoramic Eatery' will open in February. Windows surround the entire floor of the restaurant, which can seat around 200 people.

It will only be opened for Brucity staff initially, serving as their canteen at noon. The general public will be welcomed at a later date. The exact opening date has not yet been confirmed, but it will reportedly be marked by a grand event.

The rooftop with the outdoor bar on the ninth floor is expected to open around April, weather permitting. The company is also looking to open a permanent sheltered winter bar there for next winter.
