The Ghent Light Festival attracted approximately 600,000 visitors over five days, from 31 January to 4 February this year.
Attendance was down compared to the 2021 event, which drew 800,000 visitors.
According to festival officer Bram Van Braeckevelt (Groen), this year’s festival was quieter but took place without any incidents.
The event’s final day saw a turnout of 110,000 people. Despite the lower turnout, organisers expressed satisfaction.
"There were no incidents, we were able to show that the city is alive," said Melissa Van Hautte, a representative from Van Braeckevelt’s office.
The future of the triennial festival first staged in 2011, is currently undecided.
