The Fifty One, Brussels' new hotspot for Mediterranean flavours

The Fifty One is a unique place with a refined and trendy décor in which you can choose to have a drink on the soft sofas or high chairs at the bar, or sit down to eat and discover the delicious Mediterranean-inspired dishes.

The restaurant is the brainchild of Chef Andrea Avella, a passionate Italian who’s worked in some of the top eating places in Brussels such as Bocconi at Hotel Amigo and La Manufacture.

Avella is behind the stove of the open kitchen in this cosy restaurant where you can choose to eat your meal sat down in comfort on one side, or have a drink and eat tapas in the lounge area on the other side.

The menu features a fusion of Mediterranean and international cuisine, combining classic dishes from the Mediterranean with flavours and techniques from around the world. Choose from a variety of simple and tasty tapas dishes composed of local products that change with the seasons. Be tempted by the sardines stuffed with capers, tomatoes and breadcrumbs, flavoured with herbs.

The range of starters and main courses are based on recipes drawn from the Mediterranean cuisine of Chef Avellas childhood inspired by traditional dishes such as mini pumpkin gnocchi with herbs, served with grilled mushrooms and parmesan fondue, or even the delicious pistachio tiramisu.

Or try their Catalan Octopus, with its long pepper and pickled onion brunoise, potato and smoked paprika cream. Another recommendation is the delicious stuffed chicken breast ballotine.

They have a special express lunch for only €24 and there are two options. Either soup of the day and a main course, or a main course and dessert of the day.
