The Leopold II tunnel in the direction of Brussels city will be partially closed from 17 February to 16 March in order to prevent flooding.
Brussels Mobility announced on Tuesday that it will take advantage of ongoing renovations of the Leopold II Tunnel lasting a month. The plan is to repair an important sewer which evacuates rainwater from the metro tunnels around Simonis station, but the poor condition has led to flooding in the past.
Between Avenue Charles Quint and the Sainte-Anne entrance, only the left lane will be available towards the city centre from 17 February to 16 March.
The Basilica entrance will be closed to traffic while the Sainte-Anne entrance will remain open.
From 21 February 10:00 PM to 24 February 6:00 AM, in the Simonis metro station, passengers on metro lines 2 and 6 will have to board and alight on the same platform, explained Brussels Mobility.
The traffic impact is unknown at this time.
