The Brussels Times has launched a new platform for diplomats and decision-makers to facilitate dialogue and interaction.
The Ambassador Insider Series, which is supported by the BELvue Museum and King Baudouin Foundation, kicked off on 14 March, absorbing participants into relevant discussions within the Brussels political arena.
The carefully curated monthly sessions aim to break the rigidity of regular diplomatic meetings, encouraging organic dialogue and natural connections.
Ambassadors from a wide range of countries and regions attended the inaugural event, praising the initiative for offering an environment conducive for dialogue, a refreshing change from typical Brussels interactions.
The sessions are held at the culturally significant, antique-decorated Borgendael Pavilion at the BELvue Museum.
Ambassador Valeria Vilaseca from Bolivia lauded the series, describing it as a "safe space" for diplomats.
The relaxed setting allowed more time for diplomats to connect not just within their regional quarters but also with colleagues globally. “We were given time to talk to the speakers and guests in a more relaxed setting,” she added.
Ambassador of The Dominican Republic, Iván Ogado Lora, also emphasised the need for such a platform in Brussels. "This series creates a space to encourage a rich and candid exchange on important issues by bringing together diverse viewpoints among colleagues from different regions of the world. The approach promotes innovation, creativity, and offers new insights into addressing global challenges," Ambassador Lora said.
Intending to shake up the European Union's diplomatic and political interplay landscape, the Ambassador Insider Series offers a refreshing take on diplomatic affairs.
Limited to just 20 Ambassadors per session, each event also features experts and guests from the EU institutions and various professional backgrounds to enable a diverse range of perspectives and learning opportunities.
The first session included notable guests from Stockholm's renowned Cinema Africa film festival.
“For us who interact with Ambassadors with large African diaspora worldwide, it was the best event we visited in our Brussels agenda,” Maureen Hoppers, President of Cinema Africa, said.
The Brussels Times Ambassador Insider Series takes place monthly. Those interested to get involved can find out more here.
