A Belgian seaman drowned in the Philippines

The body of a Belgian seaman was found off the Philippines. The man and two of his companions fell from the bridge they were cleaning, in the early hours of Tuesday morning. His two friends managed to swim to safety but the Belgian’s lifeless body was found last night, the Philippine information site ABS-CBN.com posted on Wednesday.  The Luxembourg vessel MV Sebastian de Elcano was around one mile from the Manille bay when the three men fell into the water. One of them injured his arm.

The authorities opened an inquest in cooperation with the Philippine coast-guard and port authorities. The police have made contact with the Belgian embassy.
