Around 14,000 festival-goers were at Spa town centre on the 20th to the 23rd of July to attend some of the nearly 90 concerts going ahead during the 24th Francofolies festival. This was announced by Charles Gardier, the co-organiser, during a press conference at the end of the festival. It finished on Sunday, with concerts by Brasero (en homage to Pierre Rapsat) and Patricia Kaas among others.
Jean Steffens also helped to organise it. He lamented the lack of legal guidelines for safety, which costs the organisers a lot of money. “They are also at the mercy of artists and their managers who ask to be paid more and more, forgetting about those who have to work hard to pay their concert ticket, their audience”.
These two things are threatening to out several festivals in Wallonia and Brussels out of business, says Jean Steffens.
