On Wednesday evening, the Eastern Flanders Criminal Court sentenced Isabelle Debackere, 36, to 30 years in prison and 10 years of government supervision. She killed her 4 year old son, Tibeau, on the 7th of March 2013. Two weeks before the incident, the accused was forcibly taken into the custody of the psychiatric services at Menin.
On the 7th of March 2013, the patient went home. She tried to drown her son, then let him fall on his head before finally suffocating him with a cushion. The little boy’s lifeless body was found the next day by his grandfather.
