More slopes open to Winter-sport lovers

On Tuesday, 15 Belgian Winter-sport centers opened their slopes to people who want to do luge, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing and snowshoe walks. This information was given by the Tourist Office for the Eastern counties. In certain areas, the snow is “good” or “excellent”. At Xhoffraix, in the Malmedy commune, the snow on the Xhoffraix ridges is “excellent” for cross-country skiing, according to the Tuesday snow bulletin. It is also “very good” for cross-country skiing at the Rodt Tombrg center, the Wintersportzentrum Losheimergraben Hotel Schröder (Bullange), and at Mount Rigl (Waimes). The snow is also “good” at Ovifat at the Club de Ski Alpin and Dethier Ski on the luge and alpine skiing slopes. The snow is 20cm thick in places, in the Our valley and at Saint-Vith, according to the same Tourist Office.

Three Winter-sport centers opened their doors on Saturday morning. Several thousand Winter-sport lovers headed to Fagnes for the first snowy weekend of the season. It is expected that numerous visitors will hit the slopes during the week due to the conditions and the fact it is school holidays.
