The parents of the baby, a few months old, who was abandoned in his pushchair in Schaerbeek on Thursday have been identified and found, revealed the Brussels prosecutor on Friday, confirming a revelation by La Derniere Heure. They were questioned and not allowed to take their baby home. The child was placed in a foster home by a judge for juveniles.
According to La Derniere Heure, the baby was left in front of a café by his paternal grandmother at approximately 11:40pm. It was the father's turn to look after the child on Thursday night. He allegedly had a disagreement with the mother of the child from whom he is separated. Either the father or the grandmother then allegedly texted the mother of the baby to tell her they had left it in front of the café where he mistakenly thought she was still working.
A female client going out for a smoke saw the unsupervised child.
