The amount of passport thefts in Belgium shoots up

In 2014, 2,536 Belgian passports were stolen, an increase of 72.5% in a year, the Sudpresse papers reported on Thursday. 17,748 passports were lost last year, compared to 14,059 in 2013 (an increase of 26.2%). Passports have been biometric since 2014, and are therefore very secure. The basic price is 65 euros for an adult passport, but the price can vary from one commune to another. A passport costs 108 euros in Forest, 80.50 euros in Mouscron, and 69 euros in Wavre.
