    Trade deficit hit 0.7 billion in August

    The Belgian trade balance showed a deficit of 0.7 billion Euros in August, 1.5 billion Euros less than August 2014, announced the National Bank of Belgium (BNB) on Monday. Exports reached 16.4 billion Euros compared to imports amounting to 17.2 billion Euros. When compared to August 2014, these figures show a 3.2% drop in exports and a 10.6% decline in imports.

    In addition to this upturn in the trade deficit, the initial flash estimate for September reported a trade surplus of 0.9 billion Euros, with 21.4 billion Euros worth of exports imports hitting 20.5 billion Euros. These figures represent a drop of respectively 1.7% and 7.4% compared to September 2014, added the BNB.
