The Walloon Regional Investment society has never invested so much

The Walloon Regional Investment society (SRIW) has never invested as much as over the last five years, Oliver Vanderijst, the president of the management committee, told La Libre Belgique on Saturday.

Going from 2015 figures, Mr Vanderijst said the SRIW agreed to invest a total of 249 million euros, and 151 million euros was actually invested. “That’s a 10% increase compared to 2014. This is the most in a year for the last five years”, he said.

The SRIW helped 450 companies, and invested at least 1 million euros in 120 of them. The biggest investment was a loan to Carmeuse.

The SRIW currently has 1 billion euros, 650 million in the form of loans or capital.
