Tomorrow (Wednesday July 13th) is the deadline for online filing of individuals’ tax returns. By By mid-morning today, a few hours from the deadline, more than 2.35 million returns had already been submitted using the Tax-on-Web online service. This is stated on the FPS Finance website.
Paper-based tax returns needed to reach the various FPS Finance scanning centres by June 30th at the latest. “The relevant tax computations for such returns will be completed in October or November.” Francis Adyns, the FPS Finance spokesman states this.
Taxpayers who opt to have an accountant or tax adviser complete their tax return have until October 27th to file the document.
Taxpayers who do not keep to the deadlines, even after receiving a reminder letter, lay themselves open to administrative fines of between 50 to 1,250 euros through to tax increases of between 10 to 200% on undeclared income or even a discretionary assessment. Last year, 87,625 fines were imposed.
