Yesterday (Wednesday), the Cabinet approved to keep the military personnel deployed on the streets. Their aim is to ensure that monitoring missions to support the police continue through to September 2nd.
After getting the opinion of the Strategic Intelligence and Security Committee and in view of the general threat level remaining at level 3, the Cabinet has decided that the deployment of 1,828 military in the streets should continue for a further month. This will be from August 3rd to September 2nd, 2016 (inclusive), as part of Operation Vigilant Guardian, which continues to employ the military in public places as part of the war on terror.
