Thibaut Courtois attributed the well-deserved victory by the Red Devils in Cyprus (0-3), yesterday evening (Tuesday), to the new system of play implemented by Roberto Martinez.
Martinez is, moreover, the subject of numerous discussions and analyses. “We are fortunate to be able to apply it intelligently,” considered the Chelsea goalkeper.

In a sense, Courtois has made a promise, “It is perfectly normal that with a new coach, some things change, and that stress is not on the same aspects as before. At the moment, we need to play another way and we should adapt to it. It will therefore go better next time.”

He went on, “Here it was particularly the case in the second half that we definitely created a dangerous position for ourselves in the opposition penalty box. I think we might even have been able to score five or six times, by exploiting all opportunities…”

Courtois therefore started the World Cup qualifiers with a clean slate in Cyprus (0-3). In particular, he had to take action to protect the net in the first half. “I concentrated hard and each time I was able to see the ball coming. In the end it was nothing more complicated than that…, ” he modestly concluded.
