The volume Tintin in the Land of the Soviets, the first Tintin adventure which Hergé created in 1929, will be published in colour on January 11th, 2017. This was announced yesterday (Thursday) by Editions Moulinsart et Casterman, the publishers producing it, in a communiqué.

First conceived in 1929 Tintin in the Land of the Soviets is the first volume of the young Belgian reporter.

This album was never in colour or reworked by Hergé in his lifetime.

The communique details, “The task of putting this work into colour was entrusted to Michel Bareau, supported by Nadège Rombaux.”

It elaborates, “This colour version accentuates both the legibility of the story and the clarity of the drawings, and literally astonishes with its contemporary appearance, as if it were a new volume.”

The release of the colour volume, a hugh event for Tintin fans, is scheduled for January 11th, 2017.

Tintin in the Land of the Soviets had been pre-published in 1929 in the youngsters comic Le Petit Vingtième. It was then published as a volume in its own right in 1930.

It was not then republished until 1973 by Casterman, in the so-called “Hergé Archives”.
