Burn-out: twice as many people suffer now than five years ago

8,208 people in Belgium took time off for Burn-out in 2015, La Dernière Heure reported on Saturday. 555 of them were Freelancers. Data from the National Institute for Disability and Insurance (Inami) show that the number of people in this situation has doubled in 5 years.

In 2010, 4,574 employees had been battling Burn-out for more than a year. 7,653 people were suffering from it in 2015.

These figures only show part of the story, and look at people who have been on sick-leave for more than a year. According to subcontractor RH Secureux, one worker in 10 (9.2%) is suffering from burn-out.
