The organisers of the Ghent Jazz Festival have announced that the New York jazz singer Norah Jones is due to introduce her 6th album “Day breaks” on July 9th, 2017. Her last concert in Belgium was previously on the Ghent Festival stage back in 2010.

For her last album, on the Blue Note Records label, Norah Jones collaborated with the big names in jazz such as Wayne Shorter, Dr. Lonnie Smith and Brian Blade.

“America’s First Lady of Jazz had her humble beginnings with ‘Come Away With Me’ and the worldwide hit single ‘Don’t Know Why’, which she made very popular”, states Bertrand Flamang, the organiser.

He goes on, “Since then, she has sold no less than 45 million records and won nine Grammy Awards.”

Also eagerly awaited on July 9th at the Ghent Jazz Festival, are the young duo Emile Parisien and Vincent Peirani, icons of a generation of jazz musicians from France.

In their album “Belle Époque”, they pay tribute to saxophonist Sidney Béchet.

Le Omer Avital Quintet has also confirmed that he will be at the festival to showcase his album “Abutbul Music“, a mix of Sephardic Jewish music, funk and blues.
