The father who killed his two daughters aged 8 and 11 years, before attempting suicide last Friday, was placed under arrest yesterday afternoon (Monday). The Liège Public Prosecutor’s Office indicated this yesterday.

It was made public yesterday morning that his health had significantly improved.

The investigating judge, in charge of the case, went to the hospital to hear the accused’s version of events regarding the evidence against him.

The man was placed under arrest both for double murder and arson of an occupied building. Again this was stated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The investigating judge did not wish to communicate the contents of the meeting.

We do not know the reasons which drove this father to commit these acts.

Initially, the emergency services had to intervene last Friday at a dwelling on the Rue Rosa Luxembourg in Soumagne, located in the Liège region, following a fire. On the first floor, firemen discovered the bodies of the two sisters aged 8 and 11, as well as their unconscious father. He was transported to hospital in a critical condition.

On Friday, the Public Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that this was a family tragedy. The father killed both of his daughters before setting fire to the house and attempting suicide by cutting his veins.
