Nearly 600 religious monuments in Belgium, Luxembourg and eastern France will “set the benchmark” on 3 and 4 June for the 10th Open Churches Day, announced the website of the foundation on Wednesday. The first weekend of June has traditionally been devoted to the (re)discovery of religious heritage, often unknown, for the past 10 years in Belgium and Luxembourg.

Feasting and activities will therefore be the driving threads of this tenth edition, with a range of events such as concerts, dance performances, tours, exhibitions, events, guided tours, lectures or even a treasure hunt. Most of these activities are free, the foundation emphasises.

Last year the 9th Open Church Day, with the theme “Sons and Silences”, attracted some 90,000 people.
