A man aged 24, originally from Nieuwerkerken in Limburg, died after strangling himself whilst playing a game. The individual was found on December 20th by his grandmother and was then taken to Leuven Hospital. He died there on December 24th.
Het Belang van Limburg published the information relating to this game which went wrong. The parents are saying that it was not a case of suicide, but a tragedy. They wish to caution other youngsters against this viral Internet phenomenon. The young man was mentally retarded.
On December 9th, this dangerous game also caused the death by strangulation of an 18-year-old young man, Ruben Buntinx, in Zonhoven. His body was found in his shower with his smartphone and iPad not far away.
