The newspaper L'Echo, has received further information as to Carles Puidgemont’s movements from a so-called “reliable source”.
L'Echo indicated on Friday that Puidgemont, up to now staying near Antwerp with a Flemish separatist, is thought to have rented a large villa on Rue de l'Avocat, in Waterloo through a friend. The newspaper goes on to say that another property may possibly be rented quickly, with a view to accommodating the bodyguard of Carles Puidgemont and four of his ministers. Contacted by the Belga press agency, the Mayor of Waterloo, Florence Reuter, said that she was not up to speed with this change of position.
The Waterloo Alderman for Civil Registration indicated after Thursday evening, when the initial information appeared, that no registration request in Waterloo had been made by Carles Puidgemont. By law he should appear in person if he wishes to pursue this course of action. The Mayor, Florence Reuter, confirmed on Friday morning that at this stage she had not received any information as to the potential arrival in Waterloo of the Catalan separatist.
