The Japanese carmaker Toyota is again recalling 1.17 million cars worldwide because of a potential problem with the airbags of its subcontractor, Takata. In Belgium, this recall affects 8,000 cars, according to a spokesman for Toyota Belgium.

This is not the first recall related to Takata airbags. This problems has led all of the Japanese subcontractor’s clients to recall some 100 million vehicles in the world.

If the airbags open during a collision, these are likely to tear, with the danger of metal pieces shooting out of the airbag at the driver and other occupants of the car. Incidents with faulty airbags have claimed the lives of more than 20 people worldwide.
