A 39 year old woman was stabbed in the street in the Kiel neighbourhood of Antwerp on Saturday evening, local police have said. She was rushed to hospital, but her injuries are not life-threatening. The 42 year old perpetrator was restrained by witnesses until the police arrived. The motive for the attack remains unknown and there is no known link between the victim and the attacker.
Witnesses say the attacker came up behind the victim and stabbed her twice before trying to run away. He has no known previous convictions.
