With Sunday, 2018 has had more summery days than the legendary summer of 1976, when a drought in the spring was followed by a memorable summer heatwave.
Sunday was 2018’s 51st summery day in Uccle. Meteorologist Franck Deboosere revealed there were only 50 in 1976 over Twitter.
A “summery” day is when the maximum temperature is 25 degrees or above. The record is still 1947, which had summery 66 days.
There was an average of 28 summery days a year in Uccle from 1981-2010.
