Socialist trade union accuses boss of Aviapartner of lying
Worker union denounces the leader of Aviapartner for running away from his responsibilities

The Socialist transport workers union, known as the BTB, the Flemish counterpart of the UBT, on Friday attacked the wish of the President of the baggage handler, Aviapartner, Laurent Levaux to fight against the wildcat strikes. A spontaneous work stoppage has led to the cancellation of hundreds of flights at Brussels Airport this week.

In a communiqué, the trade union is denouncing “the headlong rush” by the leader of Aviapartner to “hide from his colossal responsibility” and challenges the unpredictable nature of the strike. The UBT writes, “He is lying.” It goes on, “Aviapartner has known since January that there were problems. A strike had already been held, and an agreement made as a result, but it had not been executed.”

The Socialist trade union stresses that Laurent Levaux “returned home after the strike with a personal fortune of €39 million, whilst the strikers resumed work after losing six days pay.” The trade union organisation called for the company to “clean up its act” with “competent individuals at the helm.”
