Around 50 Gilets Jaunes were involved in an awareness campaign in the streets of Namur between 10:30 and 14:00 on Saturday.
The activists met at the railway station, as they have every Saturday for the last few weeks. They marched through Namur and Jambes handing out flyers and chanting.
“We don’t want a society like that, when you cause misery you get anger”, was one of their chants. The Gilets Jaunes also sang “Bella ciao”, the anthem of Italian revolutionaries. There was a joyful and positive atmosphere.
“We will be here every Saturday if need be”, says Delphine Parmentier, who was part of the march. “It’s important for us to go and meet the people to explain our actions and make them aware of what is going on”.
Delphine Parmentier is also insisting that the movement is not losing steam, although she says that’s what the government and some media want people to believe. “We are a little spread out, but there are more and more people attending the meetings”, she says.
The Gilets Jaunes are planning another operation in Namur next Saturday.
