E40 from Ghent to Brussels completely blocked in Wetteren by tipped over truck
The E40 motorway from Ghent to Brussels is completely blocked in Wetteren due to a tipped over truck. It will take a long time before everything is settled, according to the Flemish Traffic Centre. The truck tipped over around 7:15 AM on Wednesday morning just past the Shell gas station in Wetteren, blocking all three lanes as well as the entry lane. Presumably, the driver had to make way for a car or truck that was entering the motorway. There are no other vehicles involved in the crash and there were no injuries, according to Belgian media.

The Traffic Centre recommends avoiding the area, as traffic is standing still over a 10 kilometres stretch.

The traffic stuck between Wetteren and the accident is currently being diverted via the service station parking in the direction of the N42 in Oosterzele. A long traffic jam, due to cars slowing down to watch, is also forming on the other side of the road, in the direction of Ghent.

People are asked to avoid the N9, the motorway between Ghent and Aalst, as the queueing time already reached an hour and a half. Traffic on the E40 in the direction of Brussels must leave the highway in Merelbeke and is diverted via the R4.
