The second heatwave of the summer is expected to hit Belgium next week, according to the latest forecast from The Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium (RMI).
After the heatwave that hit Belgium at the end of June saw record temperatures in parts of Europe, temperatures returned to normal for the past weeks.
However, after weekend highs of up to 25 degrees, the temperature is expected to rise sharply. According to the RMI, by Wednesday it should even reach 35 degrees, and stay that way for the remainder of the week.
"Next week there may be a new heatwave", confirms weatherman David Dehneuw to Nieuwsblad. This uncertainty is due to a degree margin of error of three degrees, which must be included. To be able to speak of a heatwave, it has to be above 25 degrees Celsius for five days, three of which are at a temperature of more than 30 degrees.
