At the Tomorrowland festival in Boom, 24 drug dealers were arrested last weekend – and 231 visitors caught for possession and/or use of drugs – according to a statement by the public prosecutor.
Last year a total of 63 drug dealers were caught, spread over the two weekends, according to local media.
In terms of drugs, the police intercepted 820 Ecstasy tablets – 75 of which were fake – and 139 grams of cocaine. Police also confiscated 198 grams of MDMA and 153 grams of ketamine. Nine grams of cannabis were intercepted, reports Nieuwsblad.
A total of 231 festival visitors were caught red-handed for possession of drugs and immediately fined. The fine for the use of soft drugs amounted to 75 euro, and 150 euro for hard drugs. The drugs were confiscated, while the offenders lost their festival band and were taken off the premises.
Additionally, a total of 48 visitors were also detained by the authorities for other reasons, including 42 people who tried to enter the festival site without a valid ticket.
