The first snow of the season fell in the High Fens, a nature reserve in the Liège province, on Monday.

At the Signal de Botrange, the highest point in Belgium at 694 metres, eight centimetres of snow was measured on Monday, and it will most likely continue to snow for the rest of the day, reports VRT NWS.

South of the Sambre and Meuse rivers, snow has fallen in areas higher than 400 metres above sea level. Weather services warn that this will probably turn into melting snow in the afternoon, causing traffic to be disrupted.

In the Liège province, code orange for slipperiness applies, meaning between 15 and 20 cm of snow has been predicted in the area, reports Het Laatste Nieuws.

Less high up, in the provinces of Namur and Luxembourg, code yellow applies, as slippery wet snow turning into rain is expected at lower altitudes.
