The number of children that leave secondary school without qualifications in Flanders has gone down, from 9,500 in 2010 to 8,000 in 2013. But the total number of young students also went down in the same period, from 74,000 to 69,000. People that leave school without any secondary qualifications represented 12.9% of students in 2010, and 11.7% in 2013, the Standaard said on Thursday. Antwerp has a higher percentage, with one on four not “finishing” secondary school. Ghent, Brussels and Genk come next. Leaving with no qualifications is more common in professional education (15.8%), while 2.3% of people leave general education without any qualifications.
