Federal Public Health Minister Maggie De Block on Tuesday launched Masanté, a new website that gives citizens access to all their health information, whether medical or administrative. The aim of the site is to enable everyone to be better informed on his/her health and to play a more active role in their own health care.

There are already many platforms that enable patients to consult their information online, but many are still unknown to citizens, who often do not know which ones they need to go to, the Health Department explained. Once connected to the Masanté gateway (masante.belgique.be), people can know the types of health data available online and, with one click, be transported to the platform where they can consult their data.

Access to the site is totally secure and can be obtained using one’s electronic identity card or the mobile application ‘itsme’.

The current version of the site is a beginning, according to the Public Health Department. It will gradually evolve and its content will be upgraded. For the moment, citizens can find links to certain health data, including the summary of their file at their general practitioner’s and their hospital data.

“We are the second country after Sweden to launch such a tool,” said Minister De Block. “We can be very proud of that.”
