African swine fever contaminating wild boars

Among 1,846 wild boar carcasses analyzed so far in Wallonia —1,763 from the perimeter affected by the African swine fever virus — 619 are positive, Walloon forest minister René Collin said today. The number of wild boars infected by the virus is quickly rising. Last Monday, the minister reported 573 contaminated boars.

The Belgian gorernment has set up several buffer and surveillance zones in Wallonia and the Luxembourg province in response to the discovery of African swine fever in Belgium.
