Two new Legionella cases linked to Ghent port were confirmed by the Flemish Health Agency on Saturday.

Although one of the new victims was able to be treated at home, the other had to be hospitalised for non-urgent treatment. This takes the total number of cases to 32. The first were reported on the 10th of May: two of the victims have died.

The two new patients noticed the first symptoms of the illness on the 21st of May, two days after the Flemish Health Agency held a press conference where they spoke about the origin of the contamination. It probably came from Ghent port, where elevated levels of the bacteria were found in two refrigeration units. Lower levels of bacterial contamination were also found in three other places.
