Jejoen Bontinck set free

On Thursday, the Antwerp appeal court decided to release the ex-jihadist Jejoen Bontinck. This information was revealed by VTM, and confirmed by his lawyer Kris Luyckx. There are no conditions attached to his release. Jojeon Bontinck was in preventative custody for presumed domestic violence. His lawyer had submitted a request for his release last week. The tribunal granted the request before the Prosecutor’s office appealed.

The court decided to follow the tribunal’s decision on Thursday, and agreed Jojeon Bontinck could leave prison. He will appear before the Antwerp Correctional Tribunal on Friday, when the case will be decided.
