Salah Abdeslam, the prime suspect in the Paris attacks, “has expressed his wish to leave for France as soon as possible”, stated his barrister, Sven Mary, today (Thursday). He so stated when coming out of a hearing before the Brussels Criminal Court in chambers.
“Salah Abdeslam has told me of his wish to leave France as soon as possible. I am going to see the investigating judge with a view to her not opposing this departure any longer,” stated Mr Mary.” He added that he had obtained an extension until April 7, during today’s hearing, which had also ruled in favour of his client’s continued detention. The court had also made a ruling upon the detention of Amine Choukri, Abid Aberkane and other suspects linked to the Paris attacks.
Salah Abdeslam, who was arrested on Friday in Molenbeek, did not himself appear in court, and was represented by Mr Mary as his barrister. The latter had already stated that he would be seeking an extension.
