Ibrahim Abrini granted conditional re-release

Ibrahim Abrini, the younger brother of Mohamed Abrini, was released by the investigating judge, said the federal prosecutor's office on Monday. The statement confirms information from Sudpresse. The man was charged with participating in the activities of a terrorist group in connection with the investigation into the Paris bombings, the prosecution said.

Ibrahim Abrini, the brother of Mohamed Abrini, the third member of the Zaventem terrorist commando, was indicted in March 2016 for involvement in a terrorist organisation connected with the Paris bombings. He was suspected of having helped his brother, who was on the run after the Paris attacks in which he was suspected of having taken part. After having been granted conditional release, Ibrahim Abrini was again detained on 20 June 2016 for non-compliance with the conditions of the alternative measures.

Ibrahim Abrini had already received a conditional release following his indictment in March 2016. Four months later, however, an investigating judge had placed him under arrest for non-compliance with the conditions of his release.

According to La Capitale, Ibrahim Abrini had visited his brother in prison, which was formally forbidden. The police also reportedly found jihadi propaganda material on his computer.
