Lifeless body of Belgian man found in French river

The lifeless body of a Belgian man was found on Saturday in a river in Malestroit, Brittany, in the northwest of France. According to French media, it could be that of the companion of a young woman murdered in late September in Vannes, another town in the same area. Investigators suspect that the 26-year-old Belgian may have committed suicide. His body, weighed down with stones, was found in the Oust River, in Morbihan. It is thought to have spent many days in the water before floating to the surface, where it was detected by a kayaker. An autopsy was scheduled to be carried out at the forensic institute.

French media report that he may have been the companion and presumed killer of a young French woman in her thirties, whose lifeless body was found in Vannes on the 24th of September last. The woman’s body had two knife wounds, one of which caused her death.
