Minister of Justice Koen Geens was subpoenaed by the alleged terrorist Ali el Haddad Asufi, in the context of the 2015 Paris and 2016 Brussels attacks. The case will be discussed in Brussels civil court on 17 October, newspapers of the Sudpresse group report Monday. Under arrest since June 2016, he is said to initiate this legal action to challenge the blocking of him using an electronic bracelet.

This measure, granted in August by the Brussels Criminal Chamber, is being prevented by a European arrest warrant issued by France on 18 May. However, it has not yet been transferred.

“The Brussels courts’ will is not respected, which is unacceptable in a state subject to the rule of law,” his adviser Jonathan De Taye says.
