Son of Mechelen city councillor arrested for human trafficking
Melikan Kucam is believed to have taken large sums of money to help give humanitarian visas to Christian refugees from Syria

The son of Mechelen city councillour Melikan Kucam has also been arrested in connection with the investigation into alleged trafficking with humanitarian visas, according to Antwerp prosecutor's office. Melikan Kucam is suspected of having issued humanitarian visas to refugees in exchange for large sums of money. He is now under an arrest warrant for human trafficking, criminal conspiracy, corruption and embezzlement.

His son, aged 29, is charged with human trafficking, criminal conspiracy and embezzlement. He was arrested on Tuesday and must appear in court on Friday.
