Four burglars arrested after high-speed chase and crash

Police arrested four men on suspicion of an attempted burglary in Dilbeek during the early hours of Friday morning. They were involved in a high-speed chase along the Brussels ring-road, which ended with an accident near Braine-l'Alleud. The Hal-Vilvorde Prosecutor’s office revealed the four men have been linked to a series of burglaries in several neighbourhoods in a statement issued on Friday evening.

The four men aged 29, 26, 25 and 22 were seen trying to break into a house in Dilbeek and tried to flee by car. Police chased them down the Brussels ring-road all the way to Briane-l'Alleud. The driver lost control of the vehicle at the Waterloo exit and crashed.

All four occupants of the vehicle were injured and had to be taken to hospital after fire-fighters freed them from the wreckage.

The Hal-Vilvorde Prosecutor’s office said they knew the get-away car was used in several burglaries in different neighbourhoods. The four suspects appeared before an instruction judge and the Prosecutor’s office requested they be remanded in custody.
