Prime Minister Charles Michel appealed Thursday to the majority to go beyond matters which divide it. This comes at a time when the government has not yet been able to obtain approval for its budget, nor has it reached an agreement on the reforms it seeks to carry out.

“The last days and hours have not been easy. I would like to address the majority saying what I believe: What unites us is stronger that what divides us. We must show this and we will show it,” said the Prime Minister to the Chamber of Deputies.

Although there is agreement on the principles of the budget, there are still differences on the reforms to accompany it: labour market flexibility, revision of the 1996 law on company competitiveness, the ICT agenda, company tax reform, fair tax system, and investment strategy.

“At the moment there are still certain efforts to be made and certain steps to take for coming closer to one another,” added Mr. Michel.

Practically the entire government was present supporting the Primer Minister.
