There has been no official evidence found to support claims made by a "mystery passenger" that s/he passed through Brussels Airport security wearing a fake bomb belt as part of a test of airport security, according to reports. The qualified branches of the federal public service (FOD) Mobility conducted months of research into the possible incident with the bomb belt at Brussels Airport, but have found no evidence of this, said the spokesman of FOD Mobility on Thursday.
"On 1 October last year, I was asked to try to pass the security checkpoint with a fake bomb belt," said a mystery passenger to HLN, as previously reported.
When being searched, the passenger claimed to have pretended to be a foreign passenger who did not speak Dutch. "I gestured that I was bothered by my back and showed that I wore a kind of armour. To my great surprise, I was allowed to continue," added the passenger.
Our services have done months of research, but have not found any trace or evidence of such a possible incident, said Sven Heyndrickx, spokesperson for the FPS Mobility, reports Het Nieuwsblad.
Brussels Airport did not provide comment on the issue, in the interests of ensuring the safety of passengers and staff.
'I can not confirm or deny that an incident with a bombing belt has taken place,' said Brussels Airport spokesperson Anke Fransen, Knack reports.
