Brussels Airport expects disruptions due to controller strike

Air traffic to and from Belgium will still be disrupted until at least mid-day Wednesday due to the actions of Skeyes' air traffic controllers. According to Brussels Airport, traffic could be impacted Wednesday until 13:00. Delays are around 45 minutes, according to reports. This is expected to cause a knock-on effect, which could see delays at the airport continuing throughout the day.

On Tuesday, unions warned they would toughen social actions at Skeyes, yet with “relatively small disturbances” for air traffic.

The Christian unions ACV-Transcom and Liberal ACLVB already filed a strike notice in recent weeks due to a whole series of problems, including a lack of personnel and too high a workload.

Management and unions have regularly been negotiating since the beginning of the tensions but cannot reach an agreement. Negotiations are now at a standstill after the submission of final proposals by management on Monday. The next meeting is planned for Friday.
