Tentative agreement between SNCB and Bombardier: Bombardier also denies any agreement exists

Following the denial by SNCB over the weekend, Canadian firm Bombardier also denied the existence of any agreement of principle with the railway company on producing 450 cars for the new double decker trains, on Monday. “As is normal in this type of process, we made an offer. This was received but there are absolutely no official agreements or contracts,” announced Bombardier on Monday. “We will only speak on the matter if there is official news.”

A Bombardier union member spoke to various dailies about a tentative agreement giving work to employees at the Bombardier site in Bruges, where currently only 70 out of 350 workers are at work every day. The company has used temporary lay-offs to face a shortage in orders.

SNCB previously announced no decision had been made. The Alstom conglomerate is also competing to get this contract.
